Anyone got one? Anyone used one? Thoughts and reviews about specific ones and whether you believe you play better with/without one?

I'm considering getting one for my birthday because I currently play in a ska band and a jazz band and I need something that will give me and my tenor a sicker sound. I have friends that have them and it totally changes their sound. Even the ones that are arent so hot on sax sound amazing with a metal mouthpiece.

Plus I hear that it makes hitting altissimos much more comfortable, and that will help me a lot with my learning of the "This One Goes Out To..." solo

yea do it. if i played tenor instead of alto, i'd get one. i think theyre a good buy, even if they aren't your main mouthpiece.

u should get a jodie mouthpiece for tenor, and mental note that metal mouthpieces work 10 quizillion times better with tenor saxophones, that alto

oh yeah, on altissimos, easier yes, but extremely loud and obnoxious if you don't play it right...still fun though to dick around with different embouchers.

I would suggest getting a Berg Larsen as well. But get one that can play in tune, and whatever you do, don't buy one over the internet, because you won't be able to try it before you buy it!

metal mouthpiece is sumtimes difficult to play with..(for beginer)
i ve play alto for 4 years.. i ve play with many genre of music..
metal mouthpiece makes ur sound more brighter.. and of coz loud..
better u have both mouthpiece..
bcoz metal mp is suitable for jazz..
but for other genre.. i dont think so..
its help alot on ur growl.. 4 me its more easy to hit altisimo wit ordinary mouthpiece..
wit ordinary mouthpiece i can hit until double high d sharp..
if u use metal mouthpiece.. lower notes will e difficult a lil bit..
my metal mouthpiece.. selmer c4..
selmer c4 is suitable 4 me..
differen peeps differen size..
choose the best 4 u..

You should definatly go for metal mouthpiece. They are awesome. I play on a Otto Link 7 and it sounds great with my sax. But I wouldn't reccomend it to beginner players, simply because metal mouthpieces are a little harder to play.

Does anyone have any idea where to get one of these? I've been to a number of music shops in my area and nobody has them nor do they know where to get one. I know you can get one on sites like Musician's Friend and EBay, but are those the only two places? I'd like to test it out obviously before I buy them since they're all somewhat pricey.
