i just joined a ska band too. and the first thing i did was get the key of the song and then write the scale of that key and the key changes (if there are any) and then me and my friend (who plays sax) started messin around, and we eventually came up with some stuff. just have fun and u'll come up with something really cool. and it's good to listen to a crap load of ska bands to get an idea. -Mikey |

| ya, im also in a ska band and i do the same thing, basically find the key. What i do is just listen to the guitar part and just make it sound good. it can be a pain by yourself especially if there are like 5 other guys who have 2 learn itX_X | ||

| The horn lines is usually the first thing I write. The rest just comes naturally. But that's if you're more horn driven. | ||
