I've been playing trumpet for maybe a few months with little teaching, but some. What are some easier ska songs that i could play and work on? Thankss!

| Btw, i can play up to a high G. My only problem is playing fast. Anyone could also tell me methods to improve my playing speed? I suck at 8th, 16th, etc notes. | ||

Catch 22 is verry easy to begin, yeah sometimes it is fast, but it ain't dfficult. That where my first songspieces that I played (especially A moment of silence (bij streetlight)) Or ska-p is verry easy to (tio Sam, ...) But i think, the easiest songs are they that you know well. I began trumpet with streetlight, ska p etc becose at that time i was only listening to that music. For the speed... playing, playing and playing ! and try to giv "tonguekick" (how do we call that?) so fast as possible ! Good luck ! |

Just keep playing! Learning tabs are good, but whenh it comes right down to it, marching bands, musicals, school bands, method books, ska bands, jamming, improvising, taking lessons and practising all boil down to one things.... experience! and I think that mik was talking about tounging... he might have been talking about something different, but make sure your notes are separated when you start playing fast. And get used to playing in different keys, it'll help you out a lot! |

Ya, Reel Big Fish has alto of eays parts for you to play. As for playing fast.I have 2 books in mind thta could help you. The firts one is by Herbet L. Clarke. Its called Technical Studies for the cornet/trumpet. It did wonders for me. just start it from the beggining. It really miproved my speed of playing. The next book is by Charles Colins. Its called Trumpet Advanced Lip Flexibilities. This is for when yuor playnig fast, if u alot of drops and a big gap in between notes. you'll be able 2 play them clearly and with ease. Bryan
