| well, could be a couple of things. in those 30 minutes do u do constructive work, or just fool around. Do you challenge yourself, plya hard peices. get involved in any trumept band sor wtvr. if your just donig 30 min a day it will be a slow path. the bets thing is 2 just do everything. experience is key=P | ||

Well I've been playing less than that but what got me to my range was playing scales that went higher and higher. I found that it's easier to hit high notes in a scale rather than out of nowhere. I hope that helps. |

Do range exercises. CONSTANTLY challenge yourself. Play pieces that you would never dream of playing and learn them. Nothing is too challenging with the right practice. Just play play play. PRACTICE! |

what books have you been using? i'd recommend checking out the book "trumpet advanced lip flexibilities" by dr. charles colin. there are sections in it that help you expand your range to a certain note. after expanding to that note, you go on to the next section and it typically goes up a half step. it's all about air... |

| i reccomend getting private lessons. ive been playing for seven years (since fourth grade) and i made a huge jump from my previous ability just through learning from a pro. if u cant get lessons, not only work on training your range, but articulation as well. try playing fast and syncopated rhythms to increase ability. one thing i warm up with is octave jumps ( such as F at the bottom of bars to F at very top) this really helps flexibility. just keep practicing. | ||

Lip slurs, lip slurs, lip slurs, lip slurs. Also, you can't play high if you don't practice high. Properly warm up and all, but you can't expect the range to just be there if you don't work up there. |

so, I just got back from a trumpet lesson, and someone had just dropped off a trumpet to sell so my teacher was playing with it to make sure it was worthy of being sold. so he let me play on it and I have been playing for about 8 months and i struggle to get to an A above staff on my horn. but on this trumpet i could do it no problem! i could even get to a C above staff! why is it that Its easier for me to play on that one than mine....I'm pretty sure it was a Bach(or something like that) and i play a palatino. but anyway if its still there next week I'm gonna ask to play on it again and maybe trade for it(and they said they would trade! I mean why not im shure they could sell an almost new trumpet for alot more than an old one)...cause mine is only about 8 months old and this one is pretty beat up. but i dont really care as long as its easier for me to play!
