| i find that when i play alot of high ska songs, i lose my lips pretty easily....i can play fairly high considering i have been playing for a little over three years, but after playing up there for a while i lose my lips and i cant play as high until i rest them for a bit. I was wondering if anyone has any tips that would help to play high for longer periods of time? | ||

There is a series of exercises developed by Carmine Caruso that are purely physical exercises to build up your chops and endurance. Look up "The Basic Caruso" on google, and you'll find a PDF with some of the exercises. I'd recommend starting with just "Six Notes". I've been playing trumpet for twelve years, and have been doing the exercises for three and half, and I still do all of them. If you ease into them, and play consistantly, it does wonders for your chops. Also, long lasting lips has to be one of the more suggestive topics I've seen here
