Allrighty straight to the point, I'm a one chick band called soap~EH? I can play pretty much play any instrument you put in front of me, and I am going to be a street musician in just a few weeks, once all these auditions of mine for all region, all county, all state, and an art school all blow over.

I already have four pieces I know I will perform but I need tips, and pointers for a young musician. My father highly suggest first joining up with a group or at least a friend so I am not in danger, because I plan on playing down town in the court area. (The hot spot for street performers)
I havent any musicians to perform with, because most ones I know are no where into it as I am. So basically, I am alone to fend for my own.
Should I continue performing, if their is a dry spell of persons about?
Where should I go to learn about the rules of permits?
should I come on a weekly basis, with the same instrument, or express variety with something new every week? (like a loop, one week the trumpet, next week the urban drums, next I step, then back to the trumpet)
What should my tipping box say?
My father suggested the box tell to what they are tipping to. (my education, my music lessons, the upkeep of my trumpet)
again, tips, hints, suggestions, all welcome

Where are you from? I have different/less/more information based on your location. I guess the best thing to offer for any place is stage presence. No matter where you are, or who you're playing for, people always like to be involved.

A little, we're not talking a huge city like New York here, so you don't have to be as flashy. Eyes are likely to fall on you as long as you're doing something of mild interest (which you obviously are, even more than mild). I may be thinking too small here, and I don't know much about South Carolina, but where are you thinking of playing? Big city? Little city? Small town even? (I assume not because you said down town, and not very many down towns are small) Take into consideration things like your audience (age of people in that area, same people everyday, different people all the time, tourists? {I haven't heard of many people vacationing to South Carolina, but I haven't heard much about South Carolina to begin with}). Take into consideration what else is in the area that may catch peoples' attention and either use it to your advantage, or do something totally different as a nice change of pace. Consider these things, and think about other things that may affect your position and get back to me if you have any questions, or need some more information.
