| so i got my trumpet yesterday and within 4 hours i was able to get sound, but i have a question. the guy i bought it from has like litte bird lips while i on the other hand got black dude lips so should i get a new mouthpiece? also its hard to play when my lips are dry so i have to get em wet like everytime i blow....is that what its suppost to be like of is it again the mouthpiece? i just wanna know if im practicng the wrong way. ttyl | ||

well congrats on getting a trumpet, my trumpet teacher is black and told me the same problems but he said its kind of irrelevant, to be able to get used to your mouthpiece hold a relatively high note for maybe 8-32 beats to build up ur lip strength i use a 3b |

| grats on starting the coolest instrument ever. Don't bother buying a new mouthpiece, but tell me, what size is it ? it should say just below the rim. Usually players wet their lips before playing anyway (I do) some people even lick their mouth piece once or twice instead but I don't recommend that. | ||
