Playing bari is easily the most enjoyable saxophone experience out there. Alto is whiny. Tenor is overrated. Its all about the bari baby. Throw a berg larson jazz mouthpiece on there and its a no brainer - bari = best

I might move down to bari sometime, but probably only if our awesome bari-player gets hurt. (Or goes to tobago again) I've actually moved down to tenor recently and it's way easier for me than alto. Have fun with your band, might visit.

I have a friend with a bari and i really want to learn it. Is it a bad idea to start learning sax on a bari? Are the buttons the same for all types of saxes?

Buttons:They are similar but not the same, they also vary from different levels of sax (e.g. intermediate, pro) meaning there could more...or less

Bari:Theres nothing wrong (well imo) with starting with bari, if your gonna stcik with it then it is probably best to start on something you are keen to play...so go for it! (p.s. browse around for tutors/teachers that suit you
