We are just adding a Trumpet and a Tenor Saxophone to our band, and all of us are completely clueless about how you set up a show, or even practice.
What kind of microphones do we get for the two instruments? What kind of amps do they use? What are the settings to have the amp on?
Answers to any of these questions would be appreciated

also.....these instruments dont use amps.....you just plug them into the console....for practice its better if the horns practice apart before every band practice....(lets say band practice is on a tuesday..........the horns should get together some day/s before tuesday and learn each other's part....divide the chord's....that way when practice come you dont waste time figuring out their parts...) ........ cheers

My band uses Shure SM 57's for both the trumpet and trombone, and wired clip mics for both the barri and tenor sax's. A far as amps go... don't. Go to your local music shop and see if you can rent a small PA for really cheap. In theory though, when at practice you should keep the volume of the guitar and bass down enough so that the horns can play over them without using any mics at all. It's still a good idea to run a few practices before a show with a full mic set up, that way you all know how it feels to play into a mic etc.

Go with the Shure SM 57's for the horn though, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

you can also just blur the sound into a regular mic, just aim well at the head. or a hanging mic worked well in my years in the brass band.

dont forget to skank when possible thou.
