This is NOT a ska forum, regardless of the misconception that most of you unknowingly have.

There is no place on this site that says it is specifically a ska site. So when someone comes on here and doesn't like ska, don't give them any shit, cause that's just not cool.

I just had to clear that up for the new people.

I whole-heartedly agree with this!!! Don't get me wrong, I adore ska and all, but I don't like people going around talking about how people are "off-topic" on this site when they bring up jazz or anything else that a horn is capable of producing. The site is called "HORNtabs" not "SKAtabs"!

Ska
A genre of music stylized by the influences of American jazz and swing, born out of Jamaica. It underwent three waves, Trad(itional), Two-Tone, and 3rd wave. The guitar is always played on the off beats, or "upstrokes." The bass line is almost always a walking bass line unless the band is more punk influenced (however, ska is what helped bring about punk), and there is a horn line, usually with some swinging stuff. Ska gave birth to many different types of music, such as rocksteady, reggae, punk, rap and hip-hop (it's true).
Reel Big Fish (3rd wave), The Skatalites(trad), the toasters(3rd wave) and the specials(two-tone).

Yea, I noticed that when I came here.. There's a crap load of ska fans. But it's cool, I guess I came to the right place.

I used to go on the taborama forum till the owner closed down. Only a handful even knew what ska was.

yeah guys,
its understandable that you dont want to get any shit if you dont like ska... but if you havent noticed, when youre looking for tabs theres also bands like Against me! (which last i checked are deffinately NOT punk). So no one's getting any shit...
Just wanted to mention that. And i love all music not JUST ska so im on your guys' side too... so dont get me wrong.
Well im off, peace, take care.

Same here...i adore ska!But i love jazz aswell. So if i began to speak of jazz bands i would not like to receive such rudeness.Anything with horns pleases me.

For example that commercial...and its just a bunch of elephants making sounds with their trunks.I love the horns in that commercial.

I also agree ska is amazing but dont mock others for their opinions, jazz is pretty sweet to so dont stick your foot in your mouth.

Holy crap, never have I seen so many people all repeatedly agreeing with a statement. Come on...Marty summed it up good but then you all killed it to death...

Maybe the checkered background subliminally (or consciously) makes people think think this is a ska site.

I think that the reason people think this is a ska site only is because horns are being used in pop culture (sort of pop culture) in ska music.
