| I can usually play up to a C3, but the past two weeks I can only play an E2. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? | ||

I find that one of the best things you can do (to improve tone, range, stamina, and even lung capacity) is to play long tones. It's a long exercise but it's worth it. Start on a G in the staff and play as long as possible with a good centered and full sound that is supported from very beginning to very end. Like don't be spurting every last gasp to keep playing or anything; stop when you can;t support it. Then do the same for F#, then G#, then F, then A, then E, and so on. Do this until you can play both higher and lower notes well. It's also probably a good idea to rest periodically between the notes. Soon you'll be able to increase your range "permanently." (Of course nothing is permanent though if you don't keep practicing.) |

Typo: *stop when you can't support it. Also, make sure your attack (not really an "attack," but.. initiation I guess) is good and doesn't crack. |

| I start with open and go from a c - g - c - g - c, and go down chromatically, using your omishure to move up and down......do that as much as possible and youll start hitting the notes in the upper range.....also make sure you use your air support, dont just use your lips.....peddle tones also help | ||

| Yeah well thanks... I got back to normal, and now my appendix has ruptured, and I can't play for 2 more weeks... This is just my luck, especially with honor band try outs coming up. | ||
