depends...I suppose.

read through there

this is at the end

According to Robb Stewart's article, quality began to suffer by the end of the 60's due to the high production rates and Norlin's emphasis on mass-produced, high-volume student model horns. In 1970 Zig Kanstul left the company to become manager of the nearby Benge plant. However, Olds production continued at a brisk pace until 1979 when Norlin stopped production of both the Olds and Reynolds product lines. Presumably the declining quality together with strong competition from Yamaha, Selmer/Bach, Conn, Holton, etc left the company unprofitable.

back in the day when they were made before the 70's they were really good. Today's Olds is not the same as the old Olds. Even the Olds Ambassadors are good and they were the beginners models.

ive played a few olds and ive loved them all. i rented an olds when i first started playing, i dont remember much form that time....lol. last year i found a 1962 olds ambassador cornet, aside from the stuck first finger slide, i love it(aside from that it only cost $60, huraa for swap meets!). and about a week ago i found a beautiful looking olds super trumpet, in silver, and i got it for $150. after cleaning it up and inside, it plays and sounds wonderful. oh yeah, im not sure of its age...im guessing from late 60s...i like them, i guess im alone though. ive never seen anyone with another olds.
