When you guys say C3, and E2 and that kind of stuff what does that mean? The highest note i hit with regularity is an F an octave up from the top of the staff....what is that note?

Are you a dumbass? Jesus Christ...

This is seriously the gayest thread I've ever seen on horntabs.net, and the old vandestreek.net/trumpettabs. Be proud of yourself. You ruined an amazing forum with this trash.

Yes, I am drunk, but I mean every word I say, fucker.

whoo, a guy comes on asking a simply question about how to read tabs and you have a major go at him, swearing and saying he ruined the forum?! I know what type of behavior that ruins forums and it ain't asking questions. It's attacking poeple, swearing and agressive behavior.

Piece of advice, don't drink and post on a public forum.

marty is the kind of guy that ruins these great web sites. we are all brothers and we should try to keep it that way. we all play the same instrument some better than others and some know more. the goal is to educate the people who dont because we all enjoy the same activity.

Whoa, Marty. Chill man.

Besides this drunken rant, Marty has provided a number of helpful playing tips and the like. To Marty's defense, seeing the same questions posted every day for the past few years gets tiresome.

It's all good though. The number just refers to the octave of the note. The C below the staff (as in, the lowest open note a trumpet can play (not including pedal tones)) is referred to as C1. The C in the 3rd space of the staff is C2, and so on. So, yeah, I'll just reiterate what Chryxz already said, an F above the staff is F3. The first space is F1, and the top line is F2. If you're still confused just email me or something.

Peace.
