Well... i dont know about highest note techinicaly there is none... but the lowest note on the staff...(literaly) is a pedal Bb this is an octave lower then the low Bb. Anything you play lower then the low Bb is a pedal note... basically pedal notes make up the final Bb scale... I can hit about a pedal Eb on my friends Tenor Bach... and i can hit about a high D if i strain alot... but i can hit a C without to much straining:) and trombonist dave i think ur talking about the double F |

| so I think Dave is annoying personally haha jk. I can get to the high F on a good day. I'm not really into the whole crazy range thing, though i'm first bone in jazz, so i gotta hit those Cs. And Pedal Bb isnt the lowest note. sliding down to second position will prove that. then why not go down to 6th and play a pedal f? | ||

I broke my own record this week! I hit an Eb. I'm not that familiar with the octaves, but the Eb I hit lies above the fifth auxiliary line (you know what I mean? the small lines you draw when you are writing high tones). It even sounded clear. I tried it a few times now, but mostly it doesn't sound very clear. While "normal" playing, I can play up to the C of that octave without bigger problems |

| Nice Posaune =) Working on tone in that range will help more then you know. Once you can hit it clearly, you'd be suprised how much it will help your range in general =) | ||

| I can play a double high D and have it...you know...actually playable in a peice. I can squeak out high F's and G's but not really in a manner that'd be usefull. I think I've gone higher, but I dont really know...my ear isnt that accustomed to that high of a range :X. | ||

| /bump... sorry bout this but id rather post in this thread than start a new one. anyways, i can hit the g above the g above the g right under the top line. and in response to it being impossible for someone to hit the triple C... listen to dave steinmeyers version of a time for love... it'll blow you away...http://www.airmenofnote.com/sounds/BoneVoyage/Track09.mp3 | ||

I can do a double pedal Bb. It has that gross metallic rumbly sound and I couldn't articulate it to save my life but it's still fun to play down that low because you can play any note in first position. As for high notes, I've hit the first Bb off treble clef (or two octaves above the one sitting on the bass clef) but I can usually consistently hit high F's.

MrNick wrote:my range is getting better, consitently hitting a high Bb...when i need to...when i sit and try i can hit the super high E. im pretty sure you cant get higher...but no way can you play it fast in the middle of a song. How high can you play ?????:trombone: the the most high note I've ever played on the trombone is a double high Bb.......you know how there is low Bb then comes Bb above the staff (middle Bb) then comes high Bb.......and then finally double high Bb.....that the one I can hit.... If I feel lucky I'll go the f above that......but. Then again the fact that I play trumpet might help me ... Cheers -trumpetgeek69

my friend said he and a trumpet player traded mouthpieces and both got good results. obviously, low on the trumpet and high on the trombone. i dont know any other details, but try using a trumpet mouthpiece. btw, i can hit C above middle C pretty clearly. ive only been playing for a bit over a year, so i think its pretty good. ha. that looks more like a pipe than a sax.

question. is it difficult for the average trombonist to hit the high notes in these songs: Sublime - Wrong Way Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Old School off the Bright To me those sound like big money notes, especially the latter. |

| Both songs cap off around a high D or E for anyone that isn't sure. | ||
