I just heard this trombone recording, I forgot the trombonist's name. Its dave something, and he just wiped all of my high notes out of the water in this recording of him.

If you like high notes , search for a recording of a song called Czardas. Go to www.google.com , and search for Trombone Soloists - Czardas. After checking out some of those links you should run into a website talking about a CD with several recordings on it. And one of them is Czardas, click on the link. Its a pretty cool song.

Also, if you like even higher notes, go to www.google.com and search for Maynard Ferguson - Scream Machine, and one link will take you to Maynard Ferguson's Myspace. There are some awesome videos on there on Maynard Ferguson playing double C's and up (6 1/2 lines above treble cleff staff). Also a song called High Ass Note is of Maynard playing a triple C , 9 lines. In one of the videos on there maynard plays even HIGHER than that. Trumpet Triple C is 13 1/2 lines about bass clef staff btw. So if you think 4-7 lines is high , you havent heard high yet.

In my school's jazz band, we're playing the standard piece "Cherokee" and the solo trombone part calls for a D five ledger lines up several times. I'm nailing em. My solo this year, "Concertino" by David, has several C's four ledger lines up, as well as an Eb two ledger lines up that I'm taking up an octave.
As for low range, I can go down to somewhere around double pedal Db.

Lol Zap, way to try and prove that someone can play higher then us. Any way to prove it? btw One night stand, the reason it's just "squeaky" is because you haven't worked your range in that area yet. Once you work up your chops good enough, it actually sounds like its supposed to.

A link to one of the best Trombone Jazz songs I have ever heard by David Steinmeyer. And some of the highest notes ever. You have to listen to the whole thing.

Its the " I'm getting Sentimental Over you " Song on that page link I gave.

He has a CD out, and I dont know if he hits any of his crazy notes. The thing is, he has been playing bone since he was 6, and hes around 65 or so now. 60 years of practacing everday, and 30 of them spent sitting in an office, playing bone and giving lessons all day will do that to ya.

Just because someone has been "playing" for a long time doesn't mean they are good at high notes or low notes. You can practice 60 years of technicalities and have crap for range. Now being able to play quickly/gracefully I wouldn't doubt that he could do. Unless he has been practicing range for 60 years (I highly doubt), then he might have some decent range. Trombones are almost never known for "high notes". My bet is that hes an excellent trombone player, but nothing amazing about his range.
