So after you've been ska-ed out for the day (if that's possible ), what music do you put on?

Usually when I don't have ska playing, I'll be listening to old rock groups like Led Zep, Journey, Blue Oyster Cult, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Jethro Tull, Yes, and America to name a few.

But depending on my mood, I might be listening to some heavier rock/metal groups that I've discovered lately, like Dream Theater, Symphony X (they're actually really cool, it's like classical music, but heavy metal), or even some Megadeth. Believe me though, that's about as heavy as I'll listen to -- I'm no metal head.

And then there's the modern alternative groups I like such as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Hoobastank, (yeah.. Green Day too), Coldplay, and a bunch of others. Some interesting stuff like Blue Man Group and M83 too.

I also like swing/big band/jazz/trumpeters, including artists like Chuck Mangione, Arturo Sandoval, The Canadian Brass, Benny Goodman and His Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson, and more.

There's also my large collection of uh, heh, electronica/dance type stuff that I'll listen to sometimes.

There's some non-ska stuff I like, anyone else want to add?

Exactly the same here. I also like Modest Mouse and Wynton Marsalis a lot. Haven't heard too much of the Foo Fighters and haven't even heard of The Rat Pack.

There's a ton more I could list, but I won't bore you guys with them all.

What!? How can you not know the rat pack. Theyre kinda old. In fact, i think most of them are dead. I know Frank Sinatra is.

I've been thinking of this and I realized how rarely I drift from my ska obsession. I will listen to Disco when I go for runs because it keeps me energized and is actually quality music. I also listen to Stan Getz [Tenor Sax Player] and other saxophone and jazz stuff. I nd up listening to alot of indy stuff with my friend such as broken social scene, feist and stuff like that.

lol, I don't know, I bet I've heard tons of their stuff, but I guess it was just one of those kinds of bands you never really get into, for me.

I haven't seen Dream Theater live, but both my cousin and my friend have seen them in which they opened for Yes (the concert my friend went to) and Megadeth (concert cousin went to). They both said that they were very good. I definitely want to see them one day though.

As for all of the other artists mentioned, I'm a fan of most of those too.

Simple plan sucks, listen to reset, their old band, it was much better!!

When I'm not listening to ska i'm always listening to puck like belvedere, a wilhelm scream, or even old school like comeback kid, bane, and a home band called undertaker which are friends of mine, they kick ass!!!

I don't know if you think that bedouin soundclash is ska but I'm listening a lot of this. and a QC city band called MAP which is punk rock with a saxophone, amazing!!

When not listening to ska, i usually listen to a wide variety of rock.

Some modern rock such as Chevelle and Godsmack. Lot of punk rock: NoFx, Operation Ivy, Descendents, Propaghandi.

And being from Texas, you gotta have your country collection

Some older rock every now and then: Led Zeppelin, Guns and Roses, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, Black Sabbath, and of course Lynard Skynard

Some Frank Sinatra is good to have.

I almost never listen to ska anymore, with Streetlight Manifesto and the Mad Caddies being the exception.

My favourite bands are:

-The classic John Coltrane Quartet
-Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. However, I think Wynton Marsalis didn't play nearly as well as guys like Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard, and Kenny Dorham.
-Clifford Brown/Max Roach quintet.
-Miles Davis' first quintet, sextet, and second quintet.

Well, those are the main ones.

I also like Pink Floyd, NWA, Public Enemy, Biggie, Supertramp, and a lot of underground hardcore bands.

Somtimes, I listen to whatever my brother's listening to which is usally some J-rock stuff.

When not listening to ska, I'll listen to other stuff such as: Against Me!, The Lawrence Arms, Motion City Soundtrack, Say Anything, A Wilhelm Scream, From First To Last, and the only rap I listening to is Weerd Science. For those of you who dont know them, its the drummer of Coheed & Cambria (who are also good) rapping. Thats about it. PS-I HATE SCREAMO/POST-HARDCORE/EMO. Good day ladies and gentlemen.

I'm really getting into metal more. Not much of the hordcore/extreme/death stuff, but symphonic/melodic metal and power metal.
