I love ska, obviously, but I cannot, repeat, cannot seem to play anything worth putting to a ska rythm! Rythm or note-wise, anyone wanna help me?

I'm having a similar problem. For the past few weeks i've been trying really hard to write some ska songs and im writing out a melody, organ part and Trombone part, but its really hard to get any horn part to match with my melody. I usually do what the other person said, i just listen to lots of different songs and sorta put together all there stuff into one song , it works i guess.

I think it helps a lot more if there is a guitar riff , and drum line that you can follow. That what I usaully do.

maybe sing them into a recorder before you forget them, and then you can work with that.
