i just got my first trumpet and when i try to make a sound i squeek or make a low sound i was just wondering if anyone had ant tips so i could make a good steady(the right sound ur suppose to make)sound also when i was playing or trying to play i noticed that getting out of breath real essy.

Well, if this is you're first time playing, I strongly suggest a private teacher. Most music store employees give lessons on the side, or can at least give a good recommendation. A private teacher will point you in all the right directions. But when I learned to play, I was always told to "buzz" into my mouthpiece, then with the trumpet. When you get a clear sound, practice long tones. It'll be boring, but keep doing long tones with a good sound on notes in your range. Practice will bring you better lung capacity and better tone. That was a pretty basic explanation, but again, the best way to go is a private teacher. |
