Jazz mostly. All types of jazz: Swing, Bop, Avante Garde, New stuff (indescribable really) I also like some rap, some hardcore (the hardcore scene is weak now, there are only a few hard bands), not much ska at all anymore. |

I like everything except rap, hip-hop, screamo, country and lame pop. I really hate today's "pop" artists that are dominating the charts like the crappin' Black Eyed Peas and people like Hilary Duff -- I have pretty much zero respect for any of them because they have pretty much zero musical talent or musicianship. And every piece of hip-hop crap I've heard is like the most annoying and ridiculously stupid things I can imagine. I really have a hard time understanding how people can like it. But whatever, people have different tastes. (My feelings are probably more severe since I listen to ska, jazz, and old good rock -- some genres in which an effort was actually put forth by people who know what music is to create good music. I feel better after that venting now.

Yeah i know what your saying. People are out there making millions of dollars on things that dont even require skill. They are popular only because they are played on MTV. Anything played on MTV is "cool". Which is not cool but you know what, people who are stupid enough to listen to that has no musical taste whatsoever.

Exactly. This is an awexome quote from the move School of Rock: Dewey Finn And there used to be a way to stick it to the Man. It was called rock 'n roll, but guess what, oh no, the Man ruined that, too, with a little thing called MTV! |

haha dude that movie was awesome. Thats a great quote. I like your attitude. Frigin MTV screwed everything up, though there are the few good shows on there, i.e. WildBoys and such. But I could have lived without that channel. The world would be so much better without it. Especially rap, rap inspires crime and drugs and all that good stuff. No offense to people who like it.\

Yeah, I'm from Australia and there's hardly anyone around with good music taste. Everyone's into R&B or rap or pop and that song 'All My Best Friends Are Metalheads' by LTJ well that's pretty much what its like for me. And no offense to people who like those genres but its like a frankfurt compared with a steak. So apart from ska, I like rock (but only good stuff) a bit of jazz, a bit of big band, calypso (when I can get my hands on it), Zombie Hip-Hop and whatever The Cat Empire is. Also there's heaps of good Christian rock that I like (includes POD, Pillar, Thousand Foot Krutch) and a few good underground Aussie bands. |

Yup. I've seemed to notice that whatever is "in" by high school standards is actually really lame. I'm beginning to develop quite a distaste towards the "trendy" people -- the ones who are always doing whatever everybody else is doing. In my opinion, it's always the "underdogs" and independent ones that are the coolest in my mind; as in people who actually think for themselves and do things based on their own desicions, and not the producers of MTV. (I hope that made sense.) |
