| Hey Guys, Ive been playing the sax for 4 years and I just started a ska band with some friends. I need some help transposing some songs from trumpet to tenor and bari, since there arent many tenor and bari tabs. Can anyone help me out and possibly teach me an easy method for transposing? Thanks. Any help greatly appreciated. | ||

| Tenor and Trumpet are in the same key. To figure out the Bari note from a tenor, raise it up a fifth to give you the note name and then put it in the appropiate octave. Just follow whatever key it is in and then reassign the key as appropriate. This is basically the theory but you can figure it out by just running your fingers up and down the sax. Just lower the bari the fifth to find the Tenor. It works both ways pretty easily. It just makes it easier to apply the theory the intrument you are comfortable with and gives you a visual to work through. The easiest thing I find is figure out the key for everyone and then figure things out using degrees of the scale. For example If I say play the fifth degree of the scale that is just the fifth note up and since everyone has their key figured out it's alot easier to think of it that way then to transpose each not individually. | ||
