OK, because everyone's names are all kind of...ambiguous, are there many other female trombone players? In my region band, there were only 3 of us, but we made up 3 of the top 4, so...yeah.

Also, anyone know any crazy good female trombone players out there?

And no, I'm not a crazy women's activist or anything. Just wondering.

A local band in Connecticut has female trombonists and vocals. They're called Tip The Van. You guys should check them out!

One of my best friends plays trombone, and she is a girl. She's first chair in school band. We call her the Low Brass Mother, because she is the most responsible out of everyone sititng in that back row.

I play trombone in my school band.Though,my teaher really doesnt know anything about music if it isnt piano. This is my second year but i was the only one who wanted to play trombone so they asked a few amateurs.FunFun.

I dont like girl singers either.I saw a Mad caddies concert.None of the oppening bands had any horns(wich really pissed me off). There was one band with a girl singer.Hated it!!!I think it was the loved ones or the resistanse or something like that.

No female vocals are pretty cool. Examples: Save Ferris, The Donnas, For Pete's Sake,

Absolute truth, screaming is not music, and when RBF does it a few times in their songs, it works really well, but so do party blower sounds and other random normally not musical noises. My brother is in a screaming band (the singer/screamer actually), and he SWEARS what he does is music, but he has yet to prove that. No one try to defend that it's a vocal technique by sending me a link to Melissa Cross either, I've won that argument before.

Anyway, I've known lots of female trombonists, the new wave (gr.9's) that came into my highschool last year had an amazing trombone population, like, 7 SOLID trombones, 3 of them female. Until last year, I was disappointed in the female trombone players...come to think of it, female instrumentalists in general, there were some good girls out there, don't get me wrong, but for every girl I knew that played an instrument, there were 2 or 3 guys that played it better...sad really. I know there have to be females that are the top of their instrument out there though. I'd like to hear a really solid all girl horn section in a ska band, that would make me happy.

Also, Othello by Dance Hall Crashers has some pretty cool female vocals...there are two leads, and they sing in harmony. I'm constantly on the line with them, and I know there will be some people that will take one listen and damn my soul for even having mentioned it, but I think it's worth the listen, not many bands sing in constant harmony.

We don't have any girl trombonists in our school band, but I have seen some really, really good girl trombonists out at Jazz Concerts and stuff like that, and they were all sitting in the top chairs. So it seems to me that girls are trying to outperform the guys to prove that they can do as well as them and that trombone isn't just a man's instrument. They even end up surpassing them. There is a really cool trombone ensemble on YouTube. They play The Stars and Stripes and it is simply incredible. It is an all girl ensemble and is amazing, so if you want, you could look that up.

And I like how this thread started talking about screaming in music almost out of nowhere. I have to agree with you, I don't think it sounds good in music and I certainly don't think that it takes any musical skill to scream instead of sing.

I'm with you on that. I was thinking about this the other day, and I realised that Linkin Park were pretty much the pioneers of putting screaming in music, and they did it well. Then the emo scene kids got a hold of it and ruined it all. I don't listen to hardcore, but I hear a song every now and then, it's so dumb, there's almost no variation. A band that does scream and I consider decent though, is The Sound of Animals Fighting. They're basically the RX Bandits with the trombone player replaced with some people from other bands, so the guitars are amazing. No horns though =(
