| i just got braces a few days ago and when i starts playing my trombone i sucked. first of all i cant get to high notes and second of all my braces rub up against the inside of my lip and make them hurt. can anyone give me any advice on this? please thanks | ||

| I've never had braces before - but I have heard a couple people at school say something about possible covers for them while you play. I'm not sure to be completely honest. Just ask around is all I can say. Good luck | ||

| i went thru all that. you just build up tolerance. and you should really be pressing the mouthpiece on your face so hard that you get things red ring around your mouth or cuts in your mouth even tho that will happen. avoid pressing so hard. if you cant hit the note, dont tear apart your mouth and mark your face to try. | ||

Another tip don't move to fast between say 4th position and 1st. Story: When i had braces, i was playing and came into fast from 4th to 1st and it caused my mouth piee to shoot out and it hit my lower lip and my braces went into my gums. I had to physically take my gums off my braces. There was alot of blood and pain involved. Oh and if the Orthodontist gives you wax don't use it while playing, my friend did and the wax went into the trombone and she had to fluch it out. |
