errrr....Probably..so i wouldnt suggest doing it. What colour are are gonna paint it?? The paint will probably have some evil effect upon the brass and will most likely ruin the finish.

| Well, it all depends on what kind of paint your using, and it may not look very nice, and you'll probably get streaks will doing so, if your going for another colour, i say you should powercoat it, or chrome it. | ||

ive seen painted horns before, they look pretty cool, but you have to airbrush them, you cant just like paint them with a brush. plus it doesnt really kill the tone that much. peace out alex

I've always thought about painting my sax a glow in the dark green, or orange, or a mix of glow in the dark colours. I was going to wait until I got a new one and just paint the old one for shows, because I heard it might damage it. The checkered idea is awesome though, it would be really cool to see a black and white checkered trumpet up on stage. There's also an interesting site on the subject. Check it out, it's just soprano saxes, but they have altos now too, and I'm sure it would be possible to do to any other instrument. http://www.greatmind-sax.com/hand_painted.htm |

if u guys have seen the suburban legends recently then u kno their horns were white.(untill stolen) but i asked Brian how he did it. he told me u have to like sand off the finish so its like how it originally was, then u paint it, then paint it again. then i guess if u want u can put a new finish on it or something, idk. he said the only down side to it that the horn weighs a little more than a normal one. but as u can see its a bit of a process and u have to basically destroy your horn to do it. now i did not do it to my trombone and if your thinking about doing what i have said i would look into it a little more and confirm some stuff but thats what i remember him saying; he is an awesome guy by the way. he said it was around a 2 week process, but or course it is worth it in the end bc your horn looks amazing. thats my 2 cents.

| You can actually buy horns that are their original, unfinished state. They look pretty dirty, but epic. | ||

painting horns is the worst idea i did it to my shitty King 600 just to prove to everyone that it would ruin the finish and it mangled it completely to the point that the lead pipe fell off the horn. the tone was terrible, unless thats what u like hope i helped |

If i were you i'd just trade it in for a colored one They sell them in lots of colors these days for trumpets. i'm not sure what other horns make colored instruments. |

I've never played one of them but I heard that they're one of the shittest horns you can buy. When I was looking for my trumpet, the shop had some of them for a much cheaper price than the cheapest Yamaha and a friend told me they go out of tune really easily. I would imagine it's pretty much just a novelty thing. And yeah, I actually quite like the look of raw brass trumpets. |

why would you paint a horn....? that'd ruin it so fast they used to sell incredibly shitty plasticky colored horns at like sears and all that... those aren't really horns, they're just toys. |
