So marching band has started up again for a lot of us. What show are you guys doing?

We're doing another movie-based one, The Mask of Zorro; kind of old, but good music, although last year's Incredibles was more fun probably.

zorro's better than when everyone did pirates in one form or another... we're doing sketches of da vinci... i'm just glad that for once, low brass has the melody... even though it's now more of a pain in the ass than fun

Man I know, everybody did Pirates last year or the year before it seems.

It sounds sweet when the lower voices have the melody and can play it well.

Who's the music by?

Music wise we are doing Jecklle and Hyde (brodway tunes i think) and the show has something to do with a tree of evil. Got a big black tree and branches as our flume, it's going to be awesome.

supposedly my band played it about 11 years ago, and won the ussba championship... i think some band played something similar round here last year... they had giant prop paintbrushes and easels with nothing on em... don't know how well they scored

Geez, 185 tempo? That's pretty tight. I have to say though, I like slower marching better because it's easier to play and you don't get as tired.

We're doing a show called Music of the Four Seasons(Not Vivaldi's Four Seasons). It consists of a song of spring, an upbeat bright song, and then there is the Summertime song, which im sure if you listen to jazz you have heard it. Then there is Autumn leaves, again a popular song,a latin jazz song where i have a dueling solo with another trumpet. And then its winter, a medley of chrstmas type songs. Its a pretty badass show.

Everyone elses show seems pretty cool too.
Good luck to everyone.

Gangsta' Jazz...its some new piece thats supposedly hardest of the hard and has only been played once before and that was by, i think, Arizona University. It's a "celebration of the roaring 20s".

we're doing "nightmare before christmas" ...and...it's not too bad... the only reason it was picked was because of popularity...and the people who wanted it most are the worst at playing it. ...and its so simple. i get to play a g4 i think. ...g4 is the one above the c above the staff..right? cause...that's what i play...it's not written..but...it's the last note...my teacher told me to. for...the awesome effect of me

i have no idea... rememeber, the last time i saw the movie was back in elementary skool, and even then, i'm not sure if that was actually a movie i saw... i just remember vague reference to it in my memory... but our homecoming theme that year was nightmare on chief trail, so they thought of that song... if i hadda guess, it'd prolly be the overture...

fosse... like the dancer?
well... somehow, we've beasted music all season, but now we've backtracked on the actual marching... it's all good though... the way i have it figured is that the worse the practices, the better the performance... which makes no sense...
