I know everybody is probably sick of seeing these up on here, but I really can't decide; I've been saving for a new trumpet for three years now and I was wondering which one would be the better buy: Yamaha YTR8335RG Xeno Special Series Pro Bb or Bach Stradivarius 180S 37 Silver Pro Bb If anybody else has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Thanks!

| I'd get the Xeno because that's what I play and what I play best on. If there's anyway you can test the two out (such as at a music store), that would be a good idea, to see which one plays best for you. | ||

| Both are great trumpets, I'd personally recommend the Bach Strad because that's what I play (the model 43 one). For me, it plays extremely fluidly and responsively and is perfect for all around playing styles including concert and jazz (and I play it in a ska band as well). Plus it looks the best in my opinion. | ||

Thanks, I think I'm going to try to find a time when I can go to the WWBW...but does the model matter, when buying a new instrument? I'm a little confused on the idea of it all (I've heard that the thicker the lead pipe, the darker and better the sound). Thanks for all the information, it's really helping me out with this matter.

Ideally you would get both trumpets and play them both. Then pick the one that feels better and plays better FOR YOU, not anyone else. Only you can decide what trumpet is best for YOU. -Dave |

yeah...idealness is nice...but...that $4,000 of awesomeness...some of us arent that rich. i've done my research..and...i will play-test both again...but im almost sure that im set of the xeno 8335RGS... and..i've heard that strads weren't much of a jazz horn...i dunno. im not an expert. model does matter! one number changes a lot in the music world. its like..."would ya like a corvette or a civic" it's as much personal opinion as it is anything. with the strads, i believe each model has three bell choices...and...with the xeno you have all the different ones...theres 8335, 8345, and...i never look at the others..well, i've already. and...i'm done there. mostly everywhere...thickness does equal darkness. but...think of what you want. cause..if yer going to play ska...i wouldnt suggest going for the heaviest heavyweight...you'll be the best sounding loser out there...not saying ya couldn't pull it off...but think of what you need...and get that |
