Hey all!

I just got a ska band together (awesome)! We're gonna start covering Streetlight Manifesto and Reel Big Fish, but we need a name. I want it to sound kinda like Streetlight Manifesto but not be any kind of reference to them. Also not too emo. Any ideas, anyone?

insert one keyword you would like in the name and it comes up with several options for names... most of em are random jibberish that are really funny but there are some jewels in there :)

So you want a name that's kind of "deep" I take it? Look around like on WikiPedia at names of metal bands for ideas, a lot of them are awesome. Agathodaimon, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Sirenia, The Autumn Offering, Tristania, Ayreon for example. I don't really like the band, but Light This City is a freakin' sweet name.

I have to say, I do like names that aren't all weird like Big D & the Kids Table for example. I mean, what the hell does that mean?? lol, but don't get me wrong I love the band.

Without sounding too corny, I thought "Illusion of Sound" would be a good name. Also, a dictionary and thesaurus will help you find cool words. Like a cooler word for "Dream" is "Phantasmagoria." You can find cool stuff. But check online before you establish yourself to make sure your name's not taken, there's an entire world of underground artists out there.

Good luck

Wow, serverfire, you're really amazing! Thanks for the advice. I like your name idea, but don't think it's quite what I'm looking for, but thanks

Seriously, why are you asking us? This is YOUR band name. It's supposed to sum your band up in a nutshell. And instead, you're asking strangers online for "good" names. I guarantee, nothing we think up will accurately describe you as something you and your bandmates come up with. Stop trying so hard, and just let it happen. The best names are the least contrived.

How bout Blast Hour or Resonance Hour or something of the sort?

But yeah, Drew does have a point. Let us know when you decide one though!

We do have some name ideas, but they don't mean anything really...
Here they are:
1. Shades of Silence
2. Basement Bandits
3. Agent Animosity
4. Santiago's Six (or seven, we haven't finished recruiting yet)

Thanks, but you can all stop now (unless you don't want to.) We decided on Santiago's Six (or maybe seven, still not sure on that!)

Big D is referring to lead singer David McWane and the kids table are the rest of the band.
about the band name, i personally like The Amusement Parks. The T-bone Pets. Target Zero.
try to stay away from abreviation names like Mxpx, REM, NoFX(i love them dont get me wrong), MU330 (same) they sound kinda lame and uncreative to me.
where is your band from and wat nationalities are represented. something like Cultural Carnage or Ska Nation. Boston Ballugas. Newark Wall.

I wouldnt have a band name with a number that reflects how many people are in the band. If someone leaves it makes it sort of awkward I would imagine.
