you can listen to grange-man by los albertos. or if you have seen a film called "la haine", there is a song by isaac hayes and that has nice little one. what else, i think you'd be better off doing impro every night for 2months to a cd, and just seeing which ones you can copy and alter and so on, that's what i do and it works a treat.

Theres a very nice, easy solo in Jimmy jazz by the Clash, and if you can get your hands on the Live at The Wireless the Cat Empire did for Triple J theres an awesome sax solo in that, towards the end. But to get really good solos you just have to listen to the old masters, Cannonball, Bird, Coltrane etc etc, learn some scales and start to build your own ideas of that.

Alto sax solo in Suicide Kings by Cherry Poppin' Daddies (if you can play that fast). Or one of the sax solos in the aquabats songs (e.g. The Invisible Man or My Skateboard) they're nothing special, but they're good melodious solos. Oh, or the awesome growly Tenor solo from Jump Jive an' Wail (everytime I play that in concert that's when the crowd gets going).

Sorry, I know this would take years to learn (and I'm pretty sure it's improvised), and you're looking for something quick, but you asked for a sweet solo, maybe you can work towards it, either way, I have to post this, Jeff Coffin is awesome.

the solo starts at 1:42, but it's a good song, listen.

La Haine is the best movie I have ever seen. The characters are not static, there is no good, no bad, they're all people. GO SEE LA HAINE!!!!

If you're looking for classical...

Aria - Bozza
Concerto in E Minor - Gurewich
Sonata - Jacobi
Sonata - Cresotn
Sonata - Glazounov
Tableaux de Provence - Maurice

Those are some of the classics.

Aria by Bozza got me into University. Very slow, but very interesting, it goes right up to ff, and right down to ppp, it's only grade 6, but you can make it sound great with some style. Classically, I would also recommend Three Sketches from Bala (Bala Bounce is my favorite) or Slavonic Fantasy by Hans A. Heumann. It has a lot of cadenzas that you can interpret however you like, and there's a fast 16th notes part at the end that's both fun and fairly impressive.

Keasbeymornings, do you have any other suggestions for good classical solos? I'm looking for new stuff to try out, maybe grade 8 or 9 (if you know the grade levels of the pieces)or a really cool 10 I can work on for a while.

A fun classical piece is Sicilian and Allegro - Beethoven. Also, there's a fun alto solo in We Will Fall Together - Streetlight
